Where We Live - #5

On impluse and even with the price of gas, here in our area at $3.68 per gallon, we decided to take a ride today. Wound up in Waxhaw, NC, just across the border and about five miles from home. They were having a Spring Festival with lots of booths with cool stuff. As a local teenage rock band played, we walked, looked, and bought. We found a decorative platter for the kitchen and bought a nice homemade basket from Jennifer from Greensboro. Jennifer will be going to UNC in Chapel Hill this fall and is making baskets to supplement her educational fund.

Walking made us hungry, so we stopped at Rippington’s restaurant, located in what seemed to have been old general store sometime in the distant past. Anne had the chicken club sandwich and I had a mushroom, bacon, and Swiss cheese hamburger without the mushrooms. The food was excellent and our server had a great sense of humor. I always enjoy young people with a sense of humor.

Waxhaw has several antique shops that I need to explore sometime in the future. However, that’s for another day.

Waxhaw, NC – it’s part of where we live.
