Rooftops - #4 -- After the Rain

At ten, this morning, looking across the rooftops,
I feel and taste dampness from yesterday's rain.

Roofs, still wet and darkened,
grass, vivid green against a grey sky.

Pools of water formed by red clay beneath the Bermuda grass
disappeared, trapped now in the heavy air around me.

Disrupted pine straw strewn about,
Flowers bent by a watery load struggle upright.

The rain has come and gone.
