Haunting

I wake, and images
of my dream haunt my soul.
Like prints in the morning sand,
they are elusive markings of
that which has come,
but, too soon is gone.

Wonderful work, that reflects on harsh reality... The powerful words and that vivid imagery make it so poignant..

why is it that what we want in life, what we dream of becomes so elusive?

maybe that is life! we have to live by it.

beautiful rendition of the prompt.

yes, some dreams do past us so fast, we could barely hold on but I think they will come around again even as a faded image of what we once knew

How often do we all awake with that elusive dream or thought just in the corner of our minds and then...gone! Well done!

Dreams do haunt - they often leave traces, then fade away.
Gently rendered.
