Civil Twilight - Skywatch Friday #5

I just learned recently that "civil twilight" is the time before sunset or after sunrise when the Sun is below the horizon but not more than 6° below it. During civil twilight, the sky is still quite bright and only the very brightest stars and satellites can be seen. During this period of time, normal outdoor activity can be carried out. This photograph was taken from the end of the SCCL Lake House pier on October 30, 2009 at 7:28 a.m., just before sunrise.
