100 Strangers - Photograph #010

Right in the middle of downtown Waxhaw, North Carolina is the Kick n' Stitch Broom Shop. This amazing place is both a traditional broom workshop and a broom making museum. The proprietor/curator is Mark who has been making brooms for 12 years. As I was talking to him, a customer came in and I listened as Mark gave some advice about taking care of a fine broom. "Never stand it on end, that will ruin it. Always hang it up" he said. Then he demonstrated how to turn the broom as you use it in order to ensure it wears evenly.

Mark is my tenth Stranger and you can see more about his store at www.kicknstitch.com/.
